Internet Consultant Profile - Stewart Smith

A British ex-pat, Stewart has spent all his career working for US-based vendors including Burroughs (now Unisys), StorageTek (became Sun, now Oracle), Teradata (now NCR), and FileTek.  He has been resident in Southern California since 1990.

 

His roles have included Systems Engineer, Technical Support Consultant, Network Consultant, Product Marketing Manager and Product Manager.

 

Stewart's broad industry knowledge encompasses networking, mainframe operating systems, relational database design, as well as Internet Marketing.

One of my best clients is Golden Spoon store owner Dan Finch, who owns four stores, two in Orange, one in Fullerton, and one in Whittier. When I met Dan, he was the Marketing Director for the Golden Spoon chain and he commissioned me to build the first Golden Spoon website for the corporation.

As time passed, the Golden Spoon has faced increased business from self-serve stores so Dan and I sat down with a beer and mused over how to fight this threat.  We came up with the idea of a British butler as spokesman for Golden Spoon.  What better image is there of the concept of full service?

Dan came up with an online image of the butler but we needed a real-world presence.  Somehow Dan persuaded me that I was perfect for the role so I donned the uniform and strutted my stuff at an event at the Fullerton store.  The butler was very well received and I have since appeared at several events, including the Miss Orange County pageant.  Dan also persuaded me to do some commercials.

I won't give up my day job just yet but the butler has a message that trancends yogurt sales.  Good service is paramount in business.  In presenting my business on this site, it seemed only proper to incorporate that idea - and the butler says it best!
